EVANSDALE.
November 29,-Michaelis, Hallenstein, and H arquhar treated their employees to fcheir annual picnic on Saturday last at Mr Rolen's ground at Evansdale, the weather" being perfect. Over 200 persons journeyed ou>'. by tram an the morning, fully 50 more arriving by the afternoon excursion train. Various games and dancing in the hall were indulged in throughout the day, while the swings on the ground were never for a moment idle Sports were held during the afternoon, Mr Farquhar, with, his usual liberality, providing several pounds' worth of valuable prizes, besides abundance of toys for the children. Before leaving for home the chairman of the committee called all the picnickers together and made a few well-chosen remarks, drawin* special attention to the generosity of the firm m bearing the cost of the picnic, and of Mr Farquhar, - who privately donated the prizes and concluded by calling for three cheers for each, which were heartily given. A word o£ praise is due to the railway authorities for the excellent arrangements made.
