THE SAILOR'S BEND DREDGING COMPANY.
The first annual general meeting of the Sailor's Bend Gold Dredging Company was held on Wednesday afternoon in the Board Room at the Agricultural Hall. Captain Sundstrom (chairman of directors) presided, and the shareholders were well represented. In moving the adoption of the report (already published), the Chairman said that the dredge was now at her claim, and waa quite ready to start the moment the river warranted her doing so. Everj'thing as regarded the machinery was in perfect order and working well. He trusted that when the shareholders met next year that they would have reason to be satisfied with their property. The claim, as the shareholders were aware, adjoined the Maruherikia, whose returns up to the present time had been very satisfactory, notwithstanding the high river and the drift she had had to, encounter during the past month. He sa,w no reason why the Sailor's Bend dredge should not give _as good an account of herself. He didjiot wish to prophesy regarding what might be done, but from personal inspection he felt quite satisfied with the venture. He had much pleasure in moving the adoption of the report.
Mr J. ■W. Johnson seconded the motion, which was duly agreed to.
Mr G. Knox and Dr Riley were re-elected directors, and, on the motion of Mr Carnegie, Messrs Barr, Leary, and Co. were re-elected auditors. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.- ——— •' ' *.
