A NEW POSTAGE STAMP. WELLINGTON, November 23.

The Post and Telegraph department have received from America the plates for the new l^d stamp to be issued next month.. The stamp, which was designed by Mr J. M. Nairn, of this <:ity, is emblematic of the part taken by New Zealand in the war. The lesign is l^in long and deep. At the top ■ are the words " Newi Zealand," and below " Postage andi Revenue," the denomination being in the left-hand upper corner. In the foreground] on either side are a trooper and a horse. In the middle distance a company of mounted) infantry is advancing from their camp, the background being ranges of snow-clad •mountains. The New, Zealand flag is draped over the scene, in the setting of which a tree fern and other foliage are prominent. In the left hand lower corner a scroll bears the words "The Empire's Call." The colour is not yet decided on..
