THE MILTON BAND CONTEST.
The final meeting of the Milton Brass Band Contest Committee was held on Thursday evening, Mr Wm. Moore presiding. The balance sheet showed that the receipts amounted' to £209 12s Bd, and expenditure to .£195 7s 3d, giving a credit balance of £14 5s sd. The principal items in the receipts were : — Grate and door-money, £122 ISs; entries, £24 10s 6d; members' tickets, £32 ss; refreshment stalls, £13 19s 2d ; other sources, £1-6. The -expediture items were: — Printing, etc., £15 19s; judge's fee, £20; cash prizes, £88 10s; medals, £14; secretary's salary, £10 10s; stamps, stationary, music, etc., £17 Is 3d ; other items amounted to £29 7s. It was unanimously resolved — '" That the balance, £14 5s sd, be disposed of as follows: — Secretary, £5, and the Milton Brass Band the- remainder, £9 5s 5d." A vote of thanlw was accorded to the Ladies' Committee for\ their valuable assistance; also to Captain Barclay, who acted as military judge ; to Captain Pennycook, as .timekeeper ; and the local volunteer corps, who kindly gave their services.
