Otago Witness Eighth Problem and Solution Tourney.
For direct mate original heretofore unpublished three-move problems : PRIZES :j £ s. a. First .., .. .., „. 2 2 0 Second ' .., '..' .. 111 6 1 Third 110 j Problems intended for competition will lie accepted up to and including those posted and bearing a post office stamp not later than the 31st March, 1901.
Not more than three problems from any one competitor will be accepted. The tourney is open to all the world. Problems intended for competition must be clearly and neatly diagrammed, and two copies of each diagram must be sent.
The problems must bear a motto, and the name and address of the composer must be sent hi a sealed envelope marked with the motto, and which will not be opened until after the problems have been adjudicated upon and the awards made.
A solution tourney in connection with the above will also be held, in which there will be two prizes of 10s 6d and 5s respectively. The conditions of the solution tourney will be announced afeout the beginning of next year.
