BURNT HEADS.

Dear Jack, — Young players do not like driving shots, hence "'Jack's" suggestion re jurat heads. '"JacV 'evidently forgets that prior to the New Zealand Bowling Association restricting the boundaries of the rinkis there was no such thing as burnt heads. Wherevei* the jack was driven the bowlers had to plaj"to it, and the putting a boundary to the rink confines the play within those bounds. Any bowl or the jack going outside is out of play, and, naturally, a burnt head, which should not count as an end played ; therefore, I do not agree with "Jack" in suggesting that a burnt head should co\mt us a played head. A tie is quite a different thing. Intrust other bowlers will give their opinion on uiis point. — I am, etc., BURNT HEAD.
