TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON IN THE TAIERI DISTRICT, THE PUREBRED CLYDESDALE STALLION - THE MACKENZIE. PEDIGREE. THE MACKENZIE is a bay horse, six years old, stands nearly 17hd'3 high, with rare feet and legs, grand a-ction, and was bred by the owner. Sire, Licit King, by British Lio2i (imp.), otyt of Scotch Annie \imp.). Dam, Glasgow Maggie, by Nirnmo's Prince (imp.), g-sife Prince Charlie (imp.) ; Glasgow Maggie's dam, Taieri Lass (imp.) ; Lion King's sire, British Lion, g-sire- Argyle -(2567, vol. vi;, g-g-sire Largo Jock (444, vol. i), out of Jean by Sam, winner of the Kintyre premium for several seasons. THE MACKENZIE was first prizetaker at the Taieri Show in 1894, in a big ring of yearlings, and first at Dunedin Show the same year, beating the first prize coits of Oarnaru and Invercargill Shows. He was also first at the Tpieri Show in 1895, and first at both Dunedin and Taieri Shows in 1596. THE MACKENZIE comes from the purest strains of Clydesdale blood this side of the line, and is getting stock of the very highest quality. He travelled the Taieri as a three-year-old, and his fillies were first and tuird at Taieri Show, and first, second, and third at Dunedin Show in 1899, and it was allowed that they were as fine a lot of fillies as had ever been seen on a Dunedin show giound. The first pri.se filly was sold for lOOgs on the show ground. She went to Soxithland, and was first as a two-year-old filly, and champion for^aest mare or filly at Riverton Show in 1899. THE MACKENZIE only travelled a abort distance, and only servtd 29 mares in 1896, so surely that speaks volumes for his stockgetting. Good paddocking for maroa at Is 6d per week. Mares 3ent by rail, and consigned to 11. Charters, Mosgiel, will be promptly attended to. All care taken, but no responsibility. Owners of mares at time of first service held responsible. Early application is necessaiy, as only a limited number of mares will be taken. Terms r £1 4s; £'2 2s at end of season and £2 2s when mare proves in foal. Groom's fee, ss. • ■ R. CHARTERS, Owner. Ury Park. Mosgiel, September 18, 1900. j TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON IN THE | TAIERI DISTRICT, THE CHAMPION CLYD. ,E STALLION LORD LYON. PEDIGREE. LORD LYONS sire is the unbeaten hoi'3e Lord Salisbury, imp. (1207 Clydesdale Stud Book), dam Myrtle, by Prince of Wales (imp.), grand dam Molly M'Kissock (imp. by the late Mr M'Callum), her sire Lord Lyon (489 C.5.8.)., Molly M'Kissock took first prize at Ayr and Dumfries in 1879. Lord Salisbury's sire, Young Conqueror, g-sire Old Conqueror, g-g-sire Renfrewshire Jock, g-g-g-sire Lofty, *g-g-g-g-sire Fancy, g-g-g-g-g- s i re Old Clyde, the property of Mr Frame ; dame Darling,' by Tintock. LORD LYON has been shown at Oamaru, Dunedin, Gore, Tapanui, Invercargill, and Taieri, and was first and champion each time shown. He is the best breeding horse south of Oamaru. At the Taieri, 1899, colts got by LORD LYON were first and second, and at Dunedin Show in 1899 LORD LYON colts were first and third, the second colt coming from Oamaru, and LORD LYON" fillies were first and third, the second filly coming from Southland, which proves the above to be correct. LORD LYON is also sire of Flower of Balmoral, the mare Mr Patrick gave £100 for at the 1896 Taieri Show, and whenever mated with a decent mare leaves prize-takers. Good paddocking for mares at Is 6d per week. Mares sent by rail, and consigned to R. Charters, Mosgiel, will be promptly attended to. All care taken, but no responsibility. Owners of mares at time of fiist service held responsible. Early application is necessary, as only a limited number of mares will be taken.
