CLEARING SALE AT KURI PARK

ESTATE. Messrs Wright, Stophenson, and Co. report as follows:— The .fact of Mr James Gray (±leid and Gray.) having, sold His well-known property, together with the knowledge that his stock and implements were good, accounted fox the fine attendance that was at his clearing out Scale to-day. South Canterbury, Central Otago, and Southland were represented at the sale, and there was a great gathering of settlers from the nearer lying districts. 'f he weather, too, was propitious, at all events while the sale lasted,, and as the catalogue arrangements were satisfactory, the sale went off with gieat vim from start fco finish. Including household furniture over 300 lots were offered, and, ■with the exception o£ three or four horses on the sick, list (stifEering from influenza), a clearance of everything was effected at prices which were very gratifying to Mr Gray. Owing to •the recent -rough weather the sheep did not look at their best, but, taking this into ac- • coimt, they sold well. The draught horses were a useful lot, and the implements, as was to be expected, were much above the average seen at country sales. The sheep were offered first, and sold as follows : Border Leicesters :,Kams at 3gs to s£gs ; ram hoggets, 2gs ; ewes, l|gs ; ewe hoggets, 2Jgs. Crossbreds : Breeding ewes, all ages, with lambs at foot, 19s 6d to 20s ; wethers and ewes (culls), I4s 6d; and hoggets (culls), 14s 6d. Draught geldings, all of them 6yrs and - over, from J23 10s. to £46. Implements : Some of the principal sales were as follows: — Ma>ss. disc drill, £27 10s; three-furrow plough,- £10; double-furrow plough, £8; seed sower and manure drill, £24; Cambridge roller, £8 10s; ■ spring-tooth cultivator, £1 10s; set fanners and xiddles (complete), £6 ss, etc., etc. Household furniture, etc., brought full values.
