Country Sales.— Matheson, Pram, and Co. report having held their usual fortnightly sala at Balclutha on Friday last. The entry was a small one all round, but there was the usual good attendance. Bidding was up to the> standard, and all lets offered changeoT hands at satisfactory prices. The Farmers' Agency Company report haying held; their usual fortnightly sale at Olinton on. Thursday last, the 15th inst. The yarding was a fairly large one for the season of the year, principally hoggets, which were well competed! for, aud brought good prices. Cur sales comprised the following : For Mr James Cumming(Arthurton), 282 selected ewe hoggets at 16s 3d, 12 wether hoggets at 15s 3d; Mr John ■JVt'Laren (Clinton), 70 hoggets at 14s lid; Mr H. Steel (Clinton), 92 hoggets at 13s 9d, 62 doat 14s; Mr Robert Dynes (Pukerau), 200 hoggets at 15s.- The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Compaaiy report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Clinton on. Thursday last, 15th insfc., when, as usual a* this time of the year, there was very little stock of any description forward for sale. They sold one line of hoggets at 15s 3d. The next sale at this place will not .be held until Thursday, 13th December. On the following day, 16th inst., they held their usual fortnightly sale at Balclutha, when, as at Clinton, verylittle stock was- offered for sale. Ewes and. lambs sold at 17s, and medium hoggets at 12s iod. Good forward steers were in demand had. they been forthcoming. What were forward soldi at £5 5s each; heifers to £3 3s, and! yearlings at 265. Pigs, as usual, were very; much neglected, being practically iinsaleable ; good suckers bringing not more than 5s fad; medium do, 2s 6d to 3s 6d. Sheepskins —The usual attendance of the trade at xhe Tuesday's auctions ensures a clearance of all catalogues, but at slightly rsducedl Rabbitskins.— All lots coming forward meet with ready sale at full current values. Hides.— The demand is equal to tne supply, and the following are current prices : —Ox, 3ic& to lid cow, 3§d to 3ld; according to weight anct quality. Tallow and Fat. — Best rendered, 15s to 1/s 6d ; best rough fat, 10s to 12s 6d. Grain.— Wheat : Practically no buamess doing at the monaex t, and any lots changing hands must be of primequality, and at slightly lower ratessay: Prime samples," 2s 5d to 2s 6d; medium, nominally, 2s 2d to 2s 4d; fowls' feed in slightly, belter demand 9 b 2s to 2s Id for good whole. Oats : Owing to reported orders for Africa values have improved to the extent of about Id, but there is really little local business doing, and!' prospects are not encouraging to hold for highec prices. Sutherlands and A grade are worth Is 6d; good shipping lines, Is 5d to Is 5Jd; medium, Is 3d to Is 4Jd. Barley : Market stagnant, and values purely nominal. Potatoes. — Stinplies have eased off a bit;' market has hardened, and prime Denrents are worth £2 to £'2 ss.' Chaff. — Supplies of prime quality light, and' prices firm at £2 10s"to £-2 12s GA; medium; quality, slow sale at £2 to £2 ss.
