OTAMA.

November 23. — The annual congregational meeting was held in the church here on Monday, November 13. There was the same sparse attendance which is the usual feature of our congregationaL meetings. Rev. Mr Ramsay presided, and in the course of his remarks said that during the past year they had gone on very well in spite of many drawbacks, and that the financial condition of the church was very healthy, but that he should like to see morg young people joining the church. Mr N. D. Stewart read the balance sheet, which was adopted as read. .Mr R. Dodds proposed a motion to the effect that a form should be printed showing the different sums contributed by members to the Sustentation fund. This idea did not seem to meet with favour, and it accordingly lapsed. It was agreed that a stove should be put into the church, many of the members fontnlainine oi the severe cold in winter.

Stock Sale. — A most successful sale was held at the late Mr John M'Kenna' s farm on Friday last. Hoggets brought 17s and ewes 225. Horses, implements, and cattle all brought equally satisfactory prices. Entertainment. — The Salvation Array gave a limelight exhibition in the school here, but there was a very poor attendance. The pictures were, however, very good. School. — Our school was inspected by Mr Braik on November 16, but there has been no public report of the results so far. Weather.— We had a day's rain here dtiring the time of the Taieri floods lately, but no damage was done by floods though the river rose considerably. Agiicultural.— The crops here are all looking fairly well, but more warm weather is wanted to bring on the grass. Drill turnips are now being put in, and I notice some shorn sheep in the paddocks already. There does not seem to be much grass "kept for seed in this district this year. The low price not being very tempting accounts for this,n o doubt. "
