NOTICE TO CORRESPONDENT. Shareholders. — The statement you make is a, severe reflection on the professional skill of the engineer who designed the dredge, and we do not care about taking the responsibility of publishing it. ' A Shareholder sends us a letter written in pencil on the "Waimumu Extended Gold Dredging Company. We do not accept letters written in pencil, and have intimated this frequently. The tenor of "Shareholder's" letter is that a visit he recently paid to the claim has impressed him very favourably. He says that since October 16 the dredge lias yjon £450 worth of gold, but that, this should ihave been dS9OO worth. This is not the fault of the drsdgemaster, who is a thoroughly capable man, but the trouble is that the 'dredge is not treating half the wash per week she should, the cause being too small a Screen, wTiich gets completely choked, and the dredge has to be stopped until it is cleared. " Shareholder " says that for a couple of hundred pounds the screen coi'ld foe taken oft" and a long shoot put on, and that twice as much wash as at present could be put through.
