THE MAN ABRESTED IN WELLINGTON REMANDED.

WELLINGTON, November 13. Arthur Blatch, alias Lillywhite, was again before tlie Magistrate's Court to-day charged with the murder of Alfred Welch, of Colchester, England, in December, 1895. Mr Skerrett appeared for the defence, and claimed that the papers found on accused •were inconsistent with their possessor being Biatch. Henry Hopkins, of Levin, gave evidence that the accused told him he was in London at the time oi the Tooley street fire in December, 1893, and left England in January, 1894. He also said lie had been caretaker at the gardens in some town in England. Another witness testified to accused being a. good deal in company with. s woman whom she knew lo have come from Colchester, and who had now returned to England. Accused was remanded, till next Monday for further evidence.
