UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO.

THE MEDJCAL SCHOOL. Although the results of the professional examinations in connection with the Otago University Medical School are not officially available, the candidates who have passed have received notice to that effect individually. There were 17 candidates for the first professional examination and 10 for the second. The following, so far as can be ascertained, have received notification of their success : — First Professional Examination. — Misses Bathgate, E. Baker, and M. Shand, Messrs Lilly, Talbot, J. Marks, Brown, G. Fenwiok, R. Ritchie, and Blaikie. Second Professional Examination. — Miss Ridley, Miss Baxter, Messrs F. Hotop, I. Thompson, Gow, Simmonds, Macdonald, Allan, and Patterson.

" The Empire's Colours " is the title given to six novel and entertaining puzzles wliicb. are being placed before the public. The material for the puzzles consists of 22 triangular pieces of cardboard, coloured red, white, and blue. With these endless puzzles can be devised, but only six are given in the instructions which are enclosed with the cardbnard. The material can be carried about in a pooket, and as it taxes their ingenuity young people should find a never-ending source of pleasure in the puzzles.
