LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the OtagOjLand Board, held yesterday, was attended by the Chief Comxnissioner (Mr Maitland), and Commissioners H. Clark, John Duncan, W. Dallas, and 11. H. ■-.Kirkpatrick. , It was decided to rescind the forfeiture of John Sharp's lease over section 45, block VI, RankleImrn district, provided that all arrears of rent are paid within 14 days. The application of A. L. Herdman, on behalf cf John Burns, for a, reduction of rent on section 40, block I, Naseby, was referred to the distiict surveyor for report. Robert Wilson, jun., holder of section 9, block IX, Woocliands.-twid Patrick Fanning, section 1, block XII, Tautuku, were ordered to show cause within 14 days why their leases should not be forfeited for non-compliance with the conditions of occupation. D. M'lntyre applied for a temporary lease over sections 14a and 14b, Elderslie settlement. - — Declined.
Transfers were approved as follows: — A. Blair to rA. Dackers, section 13, block , IX, Eankleburn; J. B. Burton to William White, an area in block VII, Benger district; Mary "White Asliton to James Kirk, section 17, block VII, Catlins ; A. G. Davies to Roderick M'Rae, allotment '7k, Puketapu estate; and Mary A. Hyan to Kenneth Williamson, section 14, block XII, Maniototo district.
The application of William James Mitchell for section 19, block 11, as rural land was approved.
William Smith was granted permission to cut firewood and posts from Hawea Bu&h on payment of a royalty of Is per cord for firewood and 8s per 100 for poata.
A yearly license was granted to J. H. Macdonald to occupy section 27, block IV, Catlins district, at a rental of 35s per annum, with tho right reserved for the local body to enter the area to remove stone.
Hanger Mackenzie forwarded an application (from J. H. Forsyth for a license to ci't totaia poats over an aiea abo^o Glacier Creek, Dart River. — Declined; tho board objecting to the cutting of ycung totara trees.
Robert Harwood iviote objecting to the valuation of inipiovcmej.t3 allowed him on sectio.i 10, block VIII, Glenomaru district. — The board declined to increase the amount.
It was decided to notify section 27, block IX, Warepa district, recently held by Biigh Cameron, at a capital value of 7s 6d per acre with £13 13s for imijrovenients.
It was decided) to gazette the following holders of pastoral licenses for forfeiture for non-pay-ment of ion 1: — William Bain, run 425b; Jas. Bailey, run 428; Julia, Conieron, sections in Si'ver Peak district ; Mrs B. Cotter, ixin 33Sa and doOs; P. 'Callanan, sections, Table Hill district; J. D. il'Lennon, lun 444; Alexander M'Eae, sections, Budle district ; J. W. and W. O'Cormsll, mn 351 a.
A surrender cv license over section 6, block I, Catlins district, held by Oliver Andrews, was accepted for notification at a capital value of 10s per acre, with valuation for improvements i 6366 13s.
It was resolved — " That the posts, stakes, etc v cut by W. W. "White on run 140 abe seized by Ranger -tiughan in accordance with section 21 Forest Regulations " ; " that sections 10 to 14, block 11, Town of Racifurly, be offered as suburban land at next sale at an upset of £2 per acre."
The Lmder-secretary for Lands wrote intimating that Messrs Hay, Clarly and Kirkpatrick had been appointed to classify the runs, the licenses of which expired on February 23, 1902. — It was arianged to start on the first trip for the classification of the runs in qiiestion on Tuesday morning next.
A memo, was received from the • Undersecretary for Lands in regard to the subdividing and dealing with tho Earnseleugh runs.- — Referred to the classification commissioners to visit the lun and report to the board.
