A disastrous fire occurred at Clermonfc, Queensland, on October 11, five business premises, comprising a whole block, being t"estroyed. The damage is estimated at £20,000.' A boy named Herribage, of Horsham. (Victoria), while performing on a horizontal r-ar placed over the opening of a- gate, had a narrow escape from death recently, being caught by the neck between • two of the pickets as the gale swung to. He was re- - leaded with difficulty, and was black in Uiel face and terribly cut about the throat..
