GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORTS
Messrs Donald Eeid and Co. (Limited) report having held their weekly auction sale of grain and pioduce at their stores on Monday. There was a good attendance of buyers, but bidding was without spirit, and, with the exception of chaff and potatoes, most of the lines on offer were passed in.
Oats. — The market has been almost stagnant during the past week, and even at the reduced quotations little btisiness has been done. We quote: Prime milling, Is s|d to Is 6id; good to best feed, Is 4Jd to Is sd ; medium," Is 3d to Is 4d per bushel (sacks extra).
Wheat. — The local demand is confined chiefly to prime samples, medium quality being dimcult to place except as fowl wheat, for , which there is fair demand. We quote: Prime milling, 2s 6d to 2s 7£d ; medium, 2s 2d to 2s sd ; whole fowl wheat, 2s to 2s Id; broken and damaged, Is 8d to Is lid per bushel (sacks in). Potatoes. — Prices, which were very firm last ■week, have to-day receded m the face of heavier consignments. We quote: Best Derwents, £3 10? to £ 3 15s ; others, £3 to ,£3 5s per ton (sacks in). * Chaff. — Good to prime quality is offering rather more freely, but it is in fair demand. Medium quality is quite out of favour. We quote: Extra, heavy, to £2 12s 6d; good to prime, £2 7s 6d to £2 10s; medium, .-61 15s to £2 5s per ton (sacks extra).
Messrs JDalgety and Company (Limited) icport having held their usual weekly auction sale on Monday before a fair attendance of buyers.
. Oats. — There has not been much business doing during the week, as buyers are only operating for immediate requirements. We quote : Prime milling, Is 51d to Is 6d ; good to best feed, Is 4d to Is sd ; medium, Is 2kl to Is 3Jd per bushel (bags extra). Wheat. — The market is quiet, prime milling having only fair inquiry from 2s 6d to 2s 7d per bu«hel. Medium quality is not in request, and is worth from 2s 2d to 2s sd. Fowl feed is readily placed from 2s to 2s Id per bushel; broken and damaged, Is 9d to Is lOd per bushel (bags in).
Potatoes. — Consignments are arriving more freely, and in consequence are harder to place at quotations. Prime Derwents, £3 10s, to £B, 15s ; othei sorts, £3 to £ 3 ss.
Chaff. — Prime oaten sheaf is scarce, and meets a fair sale from ,62 10s to £2 12s 6d. Medium quality is in over-supply, and is very hard to sell from £2 to £2 ss.
Messrs A. Horitzson and Co. report having held their usual weekly sale of grain and pioduce on Monday. Prices ruled as follow: —
Oats. — A few forced sales of oats have^taken place during the week, with the result that prices are considerably lower. We quote: Best feed, Is 5Jd to Is 6d; medium and inferior. Is 2d to Is 5d per bushel.
Wheat. — The market remains steady. Best velvet Tuscan is selling from 2s Gd to 2s 8d ; medium, 2s 3d to 2s sd; fowl feed is in good demand from 2s to 2s Id per bushel.
Potatoes. — We have been selling during the week at £4 per ton, but supplies coming more
freely prices are easier. We sold on Monday! best Derwents from £3 10a to £3 15s per ton. Chaff. — There is a good demand for prime qualities from £2 7s 6d to £2 10s per ton, but medium and inferior descriptions are slow of sale from £1 10s to £2 5s per ton.'
