OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL S OCIETY.
A meeting of tbe committee of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held, in the Board Room of the Agricultural Hall on Thursday morning. There were present Messrs H. Y. Fulton (president, in the chair), A. Douglas, J. Hazlett, 0. S. Reid, J. Gow, W. 11. Taggart, TV. Souter, J. Roes, D. Andrew, A. Todd, A. 0. Beeg, W. Jaffray, J. Elliott, J. Angus, A. 0. Stronach, .T. W. Blair, A. S. Orbell, J. Wright, H. M. Driver, R. Campbell, and H. Buckland. Apologies were received from Messrs T. Brydone, G. G. RiiE&ell. G. Roberts, and "W. Charters*. The Ground? Committee reported that they had- mode the •necessci y arrangements for the ' erection of extra loose-boxes and judging ring's at Tahuutt Park.
r lhe subcommittee appointed to take into consideration the question of luncheon and publicans' laooths during the show submitted a report, which was approved.
The Secretary lepovted that the gentlemen, normruittrd to judgo the various classes had all accs-plcd, with ib.f exception of three stetiens; and ii was decided that, failing these gentlemen accepting, it he left in the hands of the executive to complete the list of judges. A letter was read from Captain Alexander, private secretary to the Governor, intimating that he would let the committee know about the beginning of November if the Governor would be able to attend the enow.
Letters wore received from the Right Hon. R. J. Seddon, the Hons. J. G. 'Ward, T. Y. Duncan, and W. Hall-Jones intimating that they would be pleased to attend the show provided their public duties permitted. The Secretary of the Agricultural Department wrote that the Government would give careful consideration to the question of the breeding 1 of arrntv rerr. omits.
The 'resident of the Duncdm Horticultural Society wrote stating that the Agricultural department had consented to hold a_ conference of poniologists, entomologists, viticulturists, and horticulturists in Moy next, under the auspices of the Dunedia Horticultural Society, and dicing the committee if they could sec their way to fix the winter show pi. the Ota^o Agricultural and Pastors! Society for the - same tine — Tha President explained that the dale, was too early (o hold a winter show, and exj^essed the opinion that the whole show veek was fully taken up in discussing matters con.nected with agriculture _and dairy produce. He suggested that tits Horticultural Society might alter their date to suit the winter show. — After some members bad spoken on the matter it w.is decided to appoint a >zabeommittoe, consisting of the president, I\fessrs J. Angus, A. 0. Stronach, and the secretary to meet a subcommittee from the Horticultural Society to discuss the matter.
