GORE SPRING MEETING. First Day— Wednesday, October 24. The first day's racing of the Gore Racing Club's Spring meeting took place this afternoon in beautiful weather. There was a good attendance. The sum of £2313 was passed thrdugh^ the totalisator, as. against £2626 for the corresponding day of last year. Several improvements carried out by the club since last year to the course and premises were greatly appreciated. Cowboy finished six lengths in front of Madeline. The stewaids met after the race, and ' disqualified Cowboy and his rider for six month? for alleged " stiff " running at Dunedin. Some of the fields were email, which limited speculation, but other events wore well filled, and some of the races were especially interesting, rotably" the Formers' Plate, the Waikaka Handicap, the Hurdles, and the Farewell Handicap.
