The Hutt- trained horses engaged at Carteiton consist of Art Jewel, Monument, Waitoa, Lady Agnes, Salute, Aide-de-camp, Czarina, Ladysniith 11, Gorse, Kent, Melwood, and Gipsy Jack.
At the Mastertsn Trotting Club meeting on Thursday last Trafalgar, by Honesty, won two events, but did not have to put up anything in the way of fast times. The local horse hornet, by Lincoln Yet, supposed to be a full biotbrer to Monte Carlo, won the principal harness handicap. Per-owhiti, owned at Petone, won the Maiden Handicap. The Hawke's Bay pony, Miss French, won the Saddle Race, but was beaten by Comet (a Wairarapa pony) in the second pony" event. Ned Kelly showed a. glimpse of his Christchurch form in the Trial Handicap, "but was beaten by Star Pointer, receiving 14sec per mile. The last-named paid the best dividend of the day, .€5 16s. Black Eagle defeated The Boatman m the Borough Handicap. The meeting was capably managed by Mr Thos. Duncan.
