Immediately your: directors took office steps were taken to arrango with the l-Gjoreeentative of Messrs Johnson ancE Sons, Melbourne, who was in Dunedin at the time, to supply the machinery and gearing. A conftiacfc was acceptedVhortly afterwards from Mi- Marr, of Waikaka, for the .pontoons, and they weie eornple'ted some time ago in a. highly satisfactoiy manner. The machinery and gearing are also on the ground, buit sonni delay has taken place owing io the difficulty, .■experienced in getting a thoroughly competent man to undertake the erection. Your directors felt that it was better to wait a- few weeks and secure the services of a first-class engineer rather than entrust the work to .some one 'Who might spoil it, and they are pleased to be able to inform you that they, have now secured the services of a> first-class man in the person of Me Glendining, who has just so successfully completed the erection of the machinery, on the Manuherikia dredge. He is^also to hava ■any assistance required from Mr James Paterson, of Waikaka, and work has commenced this (week, so that your directors expect to have tho ■dredge working in about two months froim this date. We are also pleased to be able to dnform you that good gold is being traced "towards our boundary by the adjoining company's dredge, tuid it is confidently expected tha.t it is better in your property. Messrs J. G. •Sawell and J. C. Jones are the retiring directors, and Mr George Blyl/h retires as auditor, but all offer themselves for re-election.'!
