GREEN VALLEY.
September 29. — One of the most enjoyable dances ever held in the district was given by the bachelors of Green Valley in the Shag Valley Station Woolshed (kindly let for tho occasion by "Mi A. D. Bell). Great credit is "ue to the committee, which consisted of Messrs Bayly, Math.-son, T. M* Donald, H, M'Donald, Dreaver, T. Muir, Steel, Deem, and J. Muir (hon. secretary). The shed was bevWuUy decorated with evergreens, fioweis, ana flags. Excellent music was provided by M,essrs Cunningham Bios., comprising three violins and accordians, whilst Mr Urquhart gave selections on the bagpipes. Messrs Glover and Flynn made efficient M.C.'s. The catering, in the hands of Mr Pearson, was all that could be desired. Some 300 pevsons were present, including visitors from Moeraki, Shag Point, Palmerston, Dunback, Macraes, Moonlight, Hyde, Waikouaiti, and Dunedin. All present agreed that j the affair was one of the best dances of the season.- Tlie bachelois are deserving of praise for the way they attended to their guests on arriving, and in looking after their, comforts, i etc,, and thanks are also due to the hon. secrertary for the manner in which he carried out his duties, which entailed no small amount of I work.
