HENLEY.

October 4. — Mr John Turnbull, manager of Berkley estate for some years, was on his removal from Henley tendered a farewell social in the Henley Public Hall on Monday evening last.. At the social he was presented with a travelling bag and handsome rug for himself, a set of carvers for Mrs Turnbull, a hand-bag i'or Miss Ethel Thompson, a riding whip for IMaster Johnny, and a brooch for Miss Winnie Turnbull. Mr Fergus made the presentation, and desired Mr lurnbull to accept the articles as a slight token of the goodwill in which Jie aad his family were held by residents of ihe district. Mr Turnbull, who was* completely ■taken "by surprise, feelingly replied. — On Friday evening, at the Henley Card Club rooms, jtfr Turnbull was presented by the club members with a Lilver-mounted walking stick, suitably inscribed, and a brace of pipes. Mr ZOickson, president, made tho presentation, and expressed regret at ]o?mg Mr Turnbull as caplain of the club. Mr MdcLauchlan, captain of the Berwick Card Club, who was also present, -was sorry that Mr Turnbull was leaving the district, and was sure that his place in the Henley Club would be hard to fill. Mr Turn"bull, who was much affected, suitably replied. Mr Turnbull joins the firm ol Daigety and Co. *s Taieri traveller.
