BURNS CLUB.
The monthly concert of the Burns Club, held in the Choral Hall on Wednesday evening attracted an overflowing house. Dr G-. Mac'donald (piesitient) occupied the chair, and his introduotoiy remarks were couched m his usual happy vein. Piper" Geoige Moiklejohn played bagpipe music as an oveituie to the programme. Th choir Was in excellent foim, and under Mr Don's baton they rendered the part songs '" Gloomy winter's noo awa'," " Bright feet of May," and " Craigielea." The vocalists wera iMiss "Weitzel, " Banks 01 Allah Water " ; Miss A. M'Donild, " Douglas Gordon " ; Miss Ellis, " Braes o' Glenmer " ; Mr E. Donaldson, " Mor.ig's fairy glen"; Mr W. R. Don, "O, Nannie, wilt thou gang wi' me " ; and 2\lr A. Sutherland, "My auld friend John." A quartet, " Rowan tree," sung by Misses Churchill and Hazel, and Messrs Scott and Canter, also proved an enjoyable item. Miss Jessie Allen gave a highly humorous recitation, " The Hotel Bed " The lecturer for the evening was Professor Black, whose subject was " Drumtochty. ' Dr Black is a native -of the place made fariious by the. popular writings of lan M'Laren, and ho kept his audience amused and interested with his remarks. The concert concluded with ■' Auld lang syne."
