"On Saturday, 15th inst., the St. Andrew' s-trolf Club-played -their monthlv^match for the ■saptain's medal. The weather was perfect, ami some very good scores were handed in. The competition resulted in a win for Mr H. Smith, .witb;>{t nej; spore of 90. He was riding along the road when, a retriever dog with a bushy tail ran. alongside' of him, and somehow ifianaged to get its tail entangled in the chain 'and sprocket, on the back wheel. The cyclist ,was brought to a standstill, and for some time 'jwas at a loss as to how to extricate the dog. •iWith the assistance- of a passer-by, the chain had to be taken off before the dog could be released from its awkward predicament.
