The Public Health Bill was further considered in committee. _, Clause 46 was amended requiring that Itndldrcls shoiild provide an ashpit before letting a- house. A further amendment was made that * a person should commit an offence who suffers drainage or refuse to flow into a stream or watercourse through a borough unless he proves that no offence "is thereby created. When clause 137 was reached, the Hon. Mr JENNINGS, who opposed compulsory vaccination, initiated a prolonged discussion on the subject. At 9 o'clock -a motion-.- to report progress was carried.
In the House of Representatives on Wednesday, -when the Private Industrial Institutions and Industrial Schools Act Amendment Bill came up, the Premier's suggestion to "defer consideration pending the result of the prosecution for assault of two of the Marisfc Brothers who were connected with the manaaament of - the~ Stoke Industrial' Sen ijl was adopted. The "New Zealand Ensign, Slaughtering and Inspection, * and and the » Trading Stamps Bill occupied the rest of the afternoon and evening sittings. All were passed through committee, while the Slaughtering and Inspection, and New Zealand Ensign Bills were finally passed, the Premier leading off the cheering which greeted the New Zealand ensign as established by law
