PROPERTY AND STOCK CLEARING SALE.

Messrs Donald Eeid and Co. (Limited) report having held a most successful sale of freehold farms, farm stock, implements, etc., on account of Mr John Allan, at his faxm, " Waiete," near Middlemarch, on Friday, the 14th inst., when they submitted to public competition the whole of the Waiete estate, 392 acres freehold and 96£ acres leasehold, in small farms; and also the farm stock, implements, etc. There was a large attendance of buyers and others, who attended the sale from Dunedin and Taieri, while the Stratl#-Taieri, Hyde, Moonlight, and surrounding districts were fully represented. The estate was offered subdivided into small farms, ranging fiorn 43 J to 96£ acres each, and elicited very satisfactory bidding, the keen competition for the freeholds offered proving that occupiers prefer a yeoman's title, with the right to call their farms their own. The following shows the lots as offered and prices realised: — Lot l,~"*section 65, block IX, 57a 3r 12p, £S 15s per acre; lot 2, section 63. block IX, 43a. 2r 26p, £6 12s 6d per acre ; lot 3, section 11, block IX, 96a 2r 34p, £1 per acre; lot 4, section 36, block IX, 96a 2r 34p, £8 17s 6d per acre; lot 5, section 37, block IX, leasehold, 96a 2r 34p, £7 per acre. There was very brisk bidding for draught horses, draught. mares in foal also sold well, 1 ' making the following prices: — Mares, £55, £50J", .£SO, £46, £44; geldings, £50, £43; colts 'anafi fillies, £39 to £24. Dairy cows sold at £7 5s ta' £7. Sheep were^also in much demand. Ewes with lambs at foot sold at 19s 6d ; ewes to lamb, 1 18s sd. Pigs sold at 28s' to 21a.
