LAND BOARD.

The regular meeting of the Land Board, held on the sth, was attended by Messrs J. P. Haitian d (Chief Commissioner), H. Clark, W. Dallas, J. Duncan, and H. H. Kirkpatrick.

Ranger Mackenzie forwarded an application from R. Thomas, G. Paulin, and John Linwood for a. bush cutting license over 20 acres at Gohi Creek, Dart River. — Referred to ranger for further report.

The following foifeited sections in block 11, Glenomaiu district, were recommended for notification as under- — Section 25, at 12s 6d, with £26 16s for valuation; sections 33 and 34, at 10s, with valuation £i 2s on section 33 and JS3 30s on section 34; section 35, at 7s 6cl, with valuation £3 2s ; section 36, at 7s 6:1, with valuation jS2 18s; sections 51 and 52, at 10s, with valuation £10 4s on section 51 and £6 15s on section 52.

The board was a&lfed to determine whether section 1, block IX, and section 5, block VIII, Silver Peak district, the small grazing run lease over which expries in 1901, shall again be let under the small grazing run system, and if so, to fix a rental at which it ifrould be offered to the present lessee.— Referred to ranger for report.

With regard to a, letter from Thomas Fiannery, jun., concerning-section 3, block X, Poolbum district, the application of Mr Plannery was declared to have lapsed, arrears of rent not having been paid; and it was decided 'to recommend the section for notification at 10s, with valuation for improvements reduced to £30.

The Board authorised the Receiver of Land Revenue to pay over toJhe person entitled to receive the same the sum of £222 ss, paid as valuation for impiovements upon section 8, block IV, Laucler district.'

The Farmers' Agency Company, on behalf of Mr G-raham and other settlers in the Mount Hyde district, applied to have a io?.d laid off through section 8, block V, and sections 37, 31, and 30, block IV, Mount Byle district, to connect with the IJlndon road and Jforth Taieri road at Mount Allan. — Referred to Taicri County Council for consideration.

Andrew Miller's applioaiion for a further reduction in the capital '-aluc of section 3, block IV, Woodland distiict, was referred to the ranger for report.

Ranger Mackenzie forwarded an application from Laurence Murphy for a license to occupy sections 14 to 36, and 59 to 63, block XII, Lower Hawea district. — Yearly license granted, under section 116 of the act, at a rental of £1 17s 6d, with £1 Is license fee.

Thomas G-rover, owner of section 23, block VIII, Bcnger district, wrote stating that it was impossible to fence along the southern boundaiy of the npctioii, and asked to be allowed to eract l.is fence pa,itly on the nd joining reserve, section 22. — Applicant to be allowed to erect hia fence on the line suggested by the/ l anger.

John Prescott applied to be allowed to acquire, for camping purposes, a:i area of 50 acres nt a place known as " Brass Knocker," between Chatto Creek and Springvale. — Eefsrred to Ranger Atkinson to inspect and re-

A. Anderson's application to purchase section 68, block VI, Grlenomaru distiict, was declined.

The following applications for rural lands were approved : — William Craig, allotment 4a, Janefielcl settlement (under Land for Settlements Act) ; Jane Alexander, pection 8, block IV, Laucler district (on lease in perpetuity) ; Thos. Harland, section 12, block VII, "Woodland district (occupation with a right of purchase) ; Sarah L. M'Lennon, section 22, block XIII, Emm district (occupation with a light of purchase).

The following applications to transfer were recommended for the Minister's approval: — Alexander Aitkenhead to Mrs M. Aitkenhead, allotment sa, Tahawai settlement; small grazing run 3455, and miscellaneous license 9625, Makareao estate, Thomas M'Lew to John M'Lew; lease in perpetuity 7565, Timothy Shine to Cornelius Joseph Shine; section 33, block 11, and section 43, block VII, Tokorahi estate ; and Alexander Smith to Daniel* Perkins, section 1-la, Barnego settlement (Land for Settlements Act).

John Boylet, holder of section 21, block IV, G-reenvale district, under a miscellaneous license, applied for permission to plough the southern part of the section, with a view of putting in a crop of turnips.— Leave was granted to take a crop of turnips on condition that the land was afterwards sown down with good grass seed.

George Stringer applied for an occupation lease over 100 acres, wart of sections 7, 14, 15, and 18, block 11, Tiger Hill district—The application in the form presented was declined, but a yearly license over 20 acres of area applied fox, to include house and garden, was granted, at a rental of 6d per acre, with license fee £1 Is; boundary to be ,laicl off by the ranger.
