Sastd Crack. — Sand crack is stldoni so serious as to cause lameness, and is often the result of an injury to the coronet, hence the difficulty to cure it. Clean it well out, and drive two thin horse shoe nails across the crack, riveting thorn, and apply a level bar shoe, having equal pressure all round the hoof. Smear the walls of the hoof with tar or a mixture of tar and pitch, until it grows sound horn from the top of the hoof or coronary ligament.
