Betting : 4to 1 agst Dandy, 6to 1 Paul Pry, 7 to 1 Cyanide, 33 to L Reviver. Prom a good start Reviver was first away, attended by Parapet, Glenore, and Dandy. Going out of the stranght Saraswati led fioni Melodian and Sapir, who were well clear of the field. Saraswati forced the pace along the far side, but shot his bolt at the six-furlong post, when Meloclian took up the running, with St. Clare and Reviver next. Then came "War God, Saraswati, and Glenore. Melodian led into the straight, but once fairly turned for home Reviver drew up to the leader, and at the Leger stand led by a length from Glenore and Boreas 11, the latter having come with a great run. Reviver, however, continued in the lead, and won by three parts of a length from Tarquin, a similar distance between second and third. Dandy finished amongst the ruck. Time, 2min 36sec. FIRST STEEPLECHASE. Korrowai, 9.5 .. .. .. .. .. .. 1 The Toff, 10.0 „._., .. 2 Quondong, 9.7 3 Nine started. Betting: 5 to 1 ag&t Ditto, 10 to 1 Korrowai. Won by 15 length?. Only the three finished. The favourite fell approaching the last fence. Time, 6min 13Jsec. NEW STAKES. Mr W. Bailey's br c Hautboy, by Haut Bnon — Meridian • • • • 1 Mr W. Brown's b Hautesse .. .. .. .. 2 Portland Light * 3 Five started. Betting" 5 to 2 on Hautboy. Hautboy went away with the lead and was never caught, winning easily by five lengths. Time, 2min lljsec. SQUATTERS' HANDICAP. Centurion, 7.3 .. •• •• 1 Bob, 7.12 2 Alice Mostyn, 7.7 3 Fourteen started. Won easily by four lengths. Time, 2min lOsec. The country newspaper proprietary of New South Wales decided to form an association for the protection of their inteiests.
