GREEN VALLEY.
Septembei 7.— The weather we are having at present is very wintry for this time of the year. There has been a fall of snow on the: mountains, and some few heavy showers of rain in the valley. This sort of weather is very hard on young lambs, of which I see a few already in some ot the padocks.
Amusements. — The bachelors of the district held a meeting in the schoolhouse on the ISth ult. to arrange for their annual ball, which is, I believe, to be held on the 21st inst. in the Shag Valley station woolshed, which has been kindly lent for the occasion by Mr A. D. Bell. I hear on good authority" that the bachelors are going to spare no pains and trouble to make tho affair a sugcoss. Some 250 invitations are, I hear, to be issued to the districts, including - Naseby, Kyeburn, Hyde, Moonlight, Macraes, Dunbaek, Palmerston, Waikouaiti, Merlon, Maerewhemia, andijSTenthorn. Given a good night, it will be ore oi the bigest affairs of its kind ever held in the district.
