The usual weekly -meeting of -the committee'of the O'.R.F.U: was held- on-' Monday evening, . and • attended by , "Messrs Wilson (president), M'Lareri, Duncan, Morris, Isaacs,' Ross, and Harris. It was resolved that the - final of the Junior Flag be played next Saturday. A letter from the Pirates Club, objecting to the matches Kaikorai II v. Pirates II and Union II v. Pirates II being awarded to the former teams, on the ground of playing First -Fifteen players, was referred tc the Flag Committee. It was resolved to suggest to the Port Chalmers Club that the tournament being arranged by them be played on the Caledonian ground on Saturday, September 22; The Carterton Club won the Wairarapa championship for the first time, beating Greytown by 8 points -to 6. - A Chris tchurch telegram stales that the following have been, selected to play against Southland on Saturday: — Fullback, J. S. Middleton ; three-quarters — ;G. Gray, T. E. Parry, and E. T. Harper ; five-eighth — P. Harvey ; halfback — J-. Weston ; wing forwards — W. Douglas? and J. Forde; forwards— M. Lynskey, H. Frost (captain), B. Fanning, R. j Crosbie, J. Johnstone, W. Drake, and G. Paseoe. . Messrs Butterworth Bros, tried conclusions with the D.I.C. at Tahuna Park oil Saturday, the former winning by five tries to one. try. Tries were obtained for the winners by Dow (2), Mooney, Kilroy, and Baird ; while Smith secured the try for the D.I.C. Mooney, Dow. and Bell were the best of the backs for Butterworth Bros., and the forwards all played well. Eennard was the pick of the D.I.C. backs, and Hook, Paul, and Smith were the best of the forwards. . . ' The* representative match Canterbury v. "South Canterbury ■ was played at Temuka on Thursday when Canterbury won by 13 point! to 6 points. - "
