SOUTHLAND LAND BOARD.
i The fortnightly meeting, held on Thursday, | August 23, was attended by Messrs E>. Barron 1 (Chief Commissioner), A. Kinross, D. King, A. Baldey, and J. M'lntyre. The Surveyor-general notified that his Ex- ; cellency the Governor had approved of the resolution of the board, in regard to classifying ' unsold sections in blocks I and 11, Otara xownj ship, as village land. — Received. ; Mr Kinross and Ranger Campbell reported j having inspected xxnselected sections in block i IX, Oteramika Hundred, and spid the land was poor and swampy. — Sections to be re-offered. The Limehills Church Committee applied to purchase two acres of block XX, Limehills township, for a church site, and it was resolved that the land be divided into two equal arsas and offered at auction. ! The rangei was instructed to report on Alex. ! M'Donald's application for a longer lease, with I right of cultivation, over section 19, block 111, j Mataura Hundred, now held on grazing license. M. Mouat was granted renewal of license over pastoral run No. 517, for a further term of three years. i A. Fall was granted a grazing license over | land in block XIV, Oteramika Hundred, j The ranger reported re-valuation of improvements on section 8, block 11, Seaward Bush ! township, and it was decided that the property i be again advertised. ' John Fraser applied for a lease of section 9, block V, New River Hundred. — Granted on conditions stated in application. The following applications for land were i granted: — Alex. Watson, sections 1, 8, to 12, I block 11, Feidwick Village; Andrew Campbell, I section 580, Hokonui (valuation for improve- ■ ments to bo paid to persons entitled) ; J. A. Stirling, section 48, block 111, Wyndham; and John Harper, section 14, block 111, Campbelltown Hundred. The applications for titles of J. W. Newton for section 4, block XVII, Longwood, and H. M'Quillan for section 31, block IV, Longwood, were referred to the Minister of Lands. D. W. Brown was granted a title for sections 71 to 76 and 86 and 87, Waiau. The transfer of section 2, block XVI, Centre Hill, from Hugh M'Lean to Wm, Chastre, jun., was approved. The Wallace County Council wrote in regard to Donald M'Kay's application for expenditure of fourths on small grazing run No. 42 on road near his house, and staled that the same had not yet been expended, but will be as soon as the season permits. — Received. A number of applications in regard to arrears of rent were disposed of, and the board adjourned.
