NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, August 23.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand | Amateur Athletic Association was held tonight. The balance sheet showed that the association began the yoar with a credit balance of £110 3s Id, and have now in hand £45 Os 9d. The expenditure incurred in sending a team to Brisbane was £64- 5s Bd. It was decided to hold the next New Zealand Cham- ' pionship meeting in Chiistchurch, the arrange- ' ments being rei erred to a subcommittee. The i Hon. E. C. J. Stevens, president of the local i club, was elected president of the association. ! Mr L. W. Harlcj' was re-elected secretary | and Mr J. H. Grierson treasurer. The local j officers are:— W. H. Toy, Auckland; J. M. j King-, Wellington ; W. L. J-iooper, Dunedin ; j J. M'Naught, Wanganui. The secretary was j instructed to write to the Amateur Athletic Union of Australasia, asking the unions as to the advisability of holding the Australasian Championship meeting in New Zealand early in 1901. Amendments of the rules were brought before the meeting, including a new rule suggested by the Australasian Union — thai no person vi ho occupied a seat on a board that govei-ns or deals with any other but amateur sport shall bo eligible as a representative on tho council of the New Zealand As- | social ion. This was withdrawn, and a rule ' adopted that no new representative should be elected on the association without the approval of tli© council.
