PATER'S CHATS WITH THE BOYS,
LADTSMITH FROM WITHES 1 .
Two books have been written — perhaps more, but I haven't heard of them — dealing with life jr Lady&rnith during the siege. One is by Nevinpon, correspondent for the Daily Chronicle, and a decided pro-Boer I should imagine by the sentiments expressed in two ov tlues places. " One admires Ihe Boers as a race fighting for their freedom, soon to be overthrown on behalf of a mongrel pack of speculators rod other scoundrels," L pretty clear evidence of v. here his sympathies are ; but he has to admit in more than one instance that they forfeit the right io be measured by out standard of civilisation.
