MR WARDEN M'CARTHY. Mr S. E. Jl'Carthy, S.M., and Warden, who has recently been appointed stipendiary magistrate at InvercaTgill, has held the position of Warden and S.M. of the Otago goldfields for some years. Mr M'Carthy is a native of Victoria, but grew up from boyhood in Dunedin, having been educated at the Middle District School, and prior to his appointment as S.M. was in practice as a solicitor in Naseby. He was articled in the first instance to Mr G-. K. Turton, and afterwards to Messrs Bathgate and Buchanan.
