A letter was read from the Canterbury asking the society whether it would %efray half-cost of importing some chamois.- — She matter was .discussed in its relation to 'the cost, and it was decided to reply that the /tost would be too great. A gratuity of £10 was voted to Mr D. Bell for his supervision of deer at Lake Hawea. A vote of -thanks to Mr Blackwood, Melbourne for a presentation of three young red deer was passed. 'Mr Deans' s usual report, which was adopted, was as follows: —

During the past month we have been busy collecting ova. The stock fish at Clinton have now •all spawned, except the rainbow trout; these •we start with next week. The numbers obtained from the other varieties are as follows: — Salmon, 30,000; Scotch burn, 118,000; Loch Leven, 168,000; and crossbred, 3000. ' As Mr M'Kenzie J s time hes been fully occupied in effecting repairs, cleaning ponds, and' attending to the ova, I have been endeavouring to secure as many blown trout ova in this district as 'possible, and have succeeded in obtaining 252,000, making a total of ova up to date of 661,000. Banger Peterson, Bomahapa, has kindly contributed towards this number, and Mr Black 3h.as, as usual, given his services gratis, and has been of very great assistance at this work.
