The Victorian Club billiard tournament this year was won by Mr W. Wyatt, a member of the ring. He well deserved his win, as he was badly drawn throughout, having to meet a strong man (and usually a favourite) in each game. Mr R. G. Talbot, owner, of the Malahide estate, in Tasmania, and a well-known breeder and racing roan, died at Dandenoug, a few miles out of Melbourne, last Thursday in a terribly sudden manner. He had been to Mr P. T. Heywood's training establishment si Dandenojig, and was being driven to catch the tram when he suddenty expired, heart disease being the cause of death. He wa& a giandson of Lord Talbot de Malahido, and was a popular man. He won the Caulfield Cup some years ago with Blink Bonny, the rankest outsider that ever won the race.

Mr Northland J. Goold, who went to New Zealand some years ago to buy horses for tne late Mr William Pearson, is also dead. Mr Goold had a commission to buy Crrbme as a vearhiig, but did not jike his appearance. I think he got Firelock and one or tro othcis, who turned cut of little vahie, instead.

Tom Payfcen won a rac.s with Gunnodah (by AntKus), the same horse, when an odds on favourite, afterwards lunning second to Bauge.. who is by Far Nienie. Both Bavge and Gtinnedah are in the A.J.C. Epsom Handicap and Metropolitan.

The principal event, Tafctsrsall's Handicap, one mile and a-half, at South Australian Tattersall's Club laces on Saturday last, was -won by Fair Sex 7.2, by The Englishman, with the Cauifield Cup and Melbourne Cup candidate, Dirk Hammerhand, who had 10 0 up, second. A mile race for two-year-olds was won by Ariadne (by the Musket horse Thunderbolt), carrying top weight — 0.0.
