Cattle. — 154 head yarded, only a moderate proportion of which were really prime. Sales opened at about last week's rates, but towards the finish there was a decided advance, and sales closed very fiim. Forward-conditioned bullocks and young cattle have most inquiry. — Maclean, Pram, and Co. report the sale of several lines, about 300 head in all, at satisfactoiy prices. Country Sales. — Maclean, Pram, and Co. report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Balclutha on Friday last. The entry was about the smallest on record, but all lots offered found -buyers. They sold cows, pigs, and horses on behalf of various clients at current rates. Dalgety and Co. (Limited)., report having held , .their fortnightly sale at Balclutha on Friday, ! 27th July. Th& ya.rding of both sheep and ; cattle was very small, but alt that were offered . net •with a good sale. The demand for young ] ewes and good crossbred hoggets is brisk, and ■ all ewes offered are readily sold. They sold ; four, six, and eight-tooth ewes to 16s; six and ! eight-tooth crossbred wethers to 17s lid; twotooth do, 15s 9d; pigs (suckers), 9s 6d. Sheepskins. — The usual weekly sales held on Tuesday continue to be attended by a very j full representation of the trade, and all lots ] offering meet with keen competition, and ■ realise full rates. t Rabbitskins.— Offerings are small, but are ' eagerly taken up by the trade at current rates. . Black skins are particularly in demand, and ' up to 252 d was obtained this week. > Hides. — The demand continues steady at the recent lower level of prices, and all lois found '„ buyers at 3.1 dto 4d for ox, and 3d to 3|d for cow, with an occasional odd bid higher for extra weights and quality.

Tallow and Fat.— All lots find takers at full current rates, which continue fi~in at the recent reduction.

Grain. — Wheat: Sraall lots of prime are salsable at a price, but sales to any extent are not possible in the meantime, and tbe volume of frasines's is restricted. Fowls' feed has steady inquiry, and some business can ba done in this at. quotations. Prime velvet and Tuscan, 2s 6d io 2s 7Jd;. medium quality and red sorts, 5s 2i1..t0 2s sd;. fowls' feed (best), Is lid to 2s ; insdium and inferior,, up to Is 9d. — Oats : The demand has eased during the past week, and prices aTs-not so fi-rni. Arrivals are now "small; and any coining forward can be placed for prompt shipment or consumption, at the slightly reduced rates, but sales are neither "frequent not free..* Prime milling arc worth Is 8d to Is 9d; best shipping lines, Is 7d to Is Sd; medium to good, Is 5Jd to Is 61d. — !Barley; There is really no business doing, and prices are purely nominal.

Potatoes. — Supply is in excess of demand, and most of those arriving being more or less touched with frost, buyers are chary o? buy.ing, and sales are not easily laacle even at the low prices ruling. Prime, tip to £2. Chaff. — Market fully supplied with all qnalities, and demand slow. Prime is worth up to £2 lOsj' extra, heavy occasionally 3 little more ; meditun, £2 to" £2 ss; inferior, hard to place.
