Mr Carncross wants the Postmaster-general to at once arrange to have telephonic- communication restored between Henley railway station and the Berwick Telephone Bureau.
Mr Tanner, who was on a former occasion "chairman of the Railways Committee, has not been given the cbance to fill the position this session, Mr Roderick M\Kenzie having i to-day been appointed. Thus Mr Tanner is to have neither the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee nor of the Railway Committee.-
R. H. MTheiTon, of Oamaru, late Staff Sergeant-major New Zealand Militia and Volunteers, is petitioning Parliament for an extra sum for retiring allowance, which he
claims he is entitled to.
