THE NEW ZEALAND FLOCK BOOK COUNCIL.
At a recent meeting of the members of the North and South Island Ckraneils of the New Zealand Sheepbreeders' Association, held in Wellington, tbero were present — Mr G-. Wheeler (in the chair), Messrs W. C. Buchanan, J. G. Wilson, Thomas Brydone, W. M'Laren, James Stuckey, J. S. Holmes, M. Matthews, and others.
The Secretary stated that a number of applications had been received for admission of flocks to the " New Zealand Flock Book " from, owners who had omitted to take advantage of entering their flocks prior to the closing of Vols. I and 11. The ojjeation fox the consiclera-
tion of the council was, whether Eule Wo. A, should be relaxed for the purpose of admitting* "such flocks up to the Ist January, 1901. After considerable discussion, it was decided to reopen the " Flock Book ' till the Ist January, 1901, for the purpose of admitting all eligible flocks whose owners desire to avail themselves of the opportunity ; the histories of such flocks to be subject, to the same rigid? supervision (and inspection, if thought necessary) as that exercised with "regard to all flocks admitted to previous volumes. The following were appointed as Supervising , Committee:— North Island— For Hawke's Bay, ! Messrs Hugh Campbell, J. N. Williams, and J. H. Coleman; for Wellington- Wairarapa, Messrs W. H. Beetliam, W. Perry, and C. Elgar ; for Wanganui River North, Messrs Allan, C. Lees, and Percy Wilson; for 'Wa.ngarmi 1 River South, Messrs Robert Simpson, W. T. Owen, and Robert Linton; and for Auckland^ members appointed by the Auckland A. and P; 1 • Association. For the South. Island — Southland, Messrs J. B. Sutton, R. Grieve, T. Barnhill, and I. M'Kercher; for Dunedin, Messrs J. C. Bucldand, William G-rey, T. Elliott, and I. Allen ; fo^ North Otago, Messrs J. S. Holmes, A. Murdoch, E. W. Reid, and Thomas Little ;• for South Canterbury, Messrs W. Say, G-l Lyall, I. Murray, and R. Kelland ; and for North' Canterbury, Messrs H. Overton, W. Henderson, and J. Deans.
Each flock will be inspected (if thought necessary) at the cost of the applicant, but such, cost need not be a heavy item, seeing that there are local committees in each district. The new volume will embrace all the entries in Vols. I and II (except those expunged), together with the additions made. since their publication, and such new flocks as may be enteied under the foregoing conditions. Notice of closing dates, etc., is to be published in a few days' time. x
