A VISIT TO ROXBURGH.

_ An occasional correspondent forwards us the following notes: — The first dredge in ceurse of construction below the Roxburgh, bridge is the Endeavour. The pontoons for"this company are well on the way, and as there is 1 a good deal of the machinery at the Lawrence station, it should not be long before she is at work. The Gold Queen had a trial -rim on the 13th inst. Considering that it was the first run, and that the machinery ran smoothly, the trial must be considered satisfactory. As a ' big dredge before fairly starting always requires some small alterations, she has not run -since, but she will be in full swing next week. The shareholders ought not to expect big returns right off. It takes time to open out. The Moa Flat pontoons are well advanced, and a, good deal of the machinery for this dredge is at the Lawrence station. The Gibbs -Beach, pontoons are well in liand. As the moat of the machinery is landed from Melbourne for this dredge, and the greater ■part of MMs at the Lawrence railway station, -it should not be long before she is at work. The Excelsior pontoons are well on ths way io completion. The timber for the Ettrick dredge is being carted to the site. The Majestic pontoons have been finished for two months, and as most of the machinery is on the ground, it is time the directors made a start erecting. The. Golden Bed pontoons will be finished in about a month's time, and the carriers are now carting the machinery to the dredge. The j power house for ihe Miller's Plat Electric is j erected, and the copper wires " are laid on to the claim. The Golden Run pontoons are finished, and in a month's .time a start, will be made to put on the machinery. The contractors j v for the Golden Mile pontoons have made a \ start to build. A large quantity of timber is at j " the Lawrence station for the Golden Gravel | and Golden .Reward Companies, and a start to | build their pontoons is going to be made at j once. I
