LAND BO ARD.
The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Wednesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), H. Clark, Yf. Dallas, J. Duncan, and H. H. Kirkpatrick.
Mr H. V. Goodsir wrote asking that the capital value of section 5, block VII, Catlins ' district, be r&duced to that of surrounding sections. — Referred to the ranger to report. Mr E. Burrows wrote in regard to the limestone license held by him over section 25, block IV, Mid-Wakatipu district. — Referred to Ranger Mackenzie to report.
Mr Henry Robinson asked for an extension of time in which to effect residence upon sectfion' 62, block I, Warepa district. — The application was granted. The "" following applications were granted: — For rural land on 0.r.p., John M'Donald, sec-" tion 8, block TV, Woodland district ; for rural land on 1.i.p., James Aherne, section 10, block VII, Cablins district ; Mary M'Donnell, section 3, block VII, Woodland district.
The foil riving were referred to the rangers fqr reports : — To transfer small grazing Run 205 i, Rock and Pillar, A. Mathewson to Tho3. Dowling; to surrender o.r.p. section 61, block 1,-~Catlins district, Oliver Andrews ; to surrender section 24, block I, Woodland district, A. J. Wingfield. Joseph Stewart applied for permission to suirender allotment 5, Janefield estate. — Applicant to state his reasons. It was decided to requiie a number of s. g. run lessees in arrears with their rent to show cause within a month as to why their leases should not be forfeited. Mr W. E. Potts wrote in regard to his making an application - for sections 23 and 24, block VII, Woodland district, formerly held by him. — It was decided to approve of the application if the arrears of rent (£5 9s 9d) were paid, together with cost 3of re-entry (30s), and half yeai's rent and lease fee were paid at once.
Mr A. L. Herdrnan, on behalf of Thomas Stephens, wrote requesting that the rent of sections 27 and "39, block I, Naseby districb, held by him under yearly license, be reduced on account of the damage done to the sections by mining operations. — The chief surveyor to be requested to allow Mr Calder, district surveyor, to report.
Mr G. Gwynnc wrote requesting that the capital value of section 33, block IV, Glenoniaru district, be further reduced as there was no chance of its being taken up at its present price of 12s 6J. per acre. — Referred to the ranger for report.
The application of Edward Canning for a woodcutter's license over 200 ft square at the head of Three Mile Creek, Mid-Wakatipu district, was granted for 12 months at a fee of £2 10s over aiea applied for. Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of J. W. and W. O'Connell, applied to surrender their pastoral license over run No. 354, as they found themselves unable to stock it owing to the scarcity of sheep. — Consideration deferred for further information.
Mr H. IT. Kirkpatrick applied for a yearly license to occupy part of section 36, block IV, Gimmerburu district (gravel reserve).— Yearly
I license granted at 2s 6d rental. Right of local 1 body to enter for removal of gravel reserved. It was resolved that the forfeitures of the following in the Pornahaka Downs estate be rescinded, arrears of rent having been paid: — Section 7, block XIII, held by John Herriott; section 20, block XIII, held by Edward Gray.
