SINKING OF THE ALPINE DREDGE.

Ths Alpine dredge foundered to-day. She is completely under -water, only the funnel showing. It is supposed that she struck a rock "with, her bo"srs, and had the pontoons burst open. The dredgemaster and crew tried to beach her, but slie sank almost in midstream before anything could be done.
