POULTRY NOTES.

— I would direct attention to the pictures in this issue of the poultry, 'pens of Mr F. Rogen, at Evansdale, and Mr Roberts, Abbotsford.

— The Christchurch Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Club's Grant! National exhibition, held on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd inst., proved to be a most successful affair, the entries in several classes being very b.rge. In Minorcas the entries were phenomenal, the figures — cockerels 42, pullets 34 — being, I believe, without a parallel south of the line. — I have to ihsmk Mr C. Lucas, of Opawa, Chrislehurch, Jor an advance copy of the Christchurch show catalogue, from which I have been enabled to cull the foregoing, and the following particulars — which, in view of the fact that the principal winners are those of whom I have been reporting during the past few months— will, I fancy, prove more than usually interesting to my readers. Mr Kesteven practically scooped the pool in Pix classes of Dorkings, giving place in dark cockerels only to Messrs R. T. Cooko and W. J. Storry, who took first and second respectively. In Cochins, Mrs E. Willis, of the Pclham Poultry Farm, Arfiburlon, took first in two classes, Mr J. Symington, of Oamaru, taking second in both instances. In Brahroas (dark), Mr W. A. Banks took first, second, and third in hens, and second in cocks, the Agricultural College taking first in the latter. In light Brahmos, Mr C. Lucas won first and third in lions, first in cocks, first and second in cockerels, second and commended in pullets ; Mr C. T. Bisset taking first in pullets, and third in cockerels. Langshans. — Mr F. Rogen got first and third in cocks, third and highly commended in hens : Messrs Double Bros., first in hens, second and third in cockerels, second and highly commended in pullets ; Mr R. B. Williams iron the club cup and fir&fc ift cockerels, and oqm-

mended in pullets. In Plymouth Rocks, Mr F. J. Lumsden got first in hen or pullet, Agricultural College taking second ; Mr A. Gedge taking first in cock or cookerel. Irt Orpington, cock or cockerel, Mr James Parker got first, Master Ralph Aslyn second, and Mr Benjamin Baker third; the Agricultural College taking first in hen or pullet:; Mr J. J. Parker second, Mr A. Gedge third. In Houdans, Messrs Lundon, Waimate, and l T. Breeze, Ashburton, divided honours pretty fairly; Bundy Bros., of Lyttelton, taking second in hens, highly commended in cocks, third in cockerels, and commended in pullets. In Golden Wyandottes, Mr M. Nalder got first in cocks, Mr Donohue being second, and!" Mr E. J. Ross third. In hens, Dr Brittin took first, and Mr T. I. Ballinger second and third ;| m cockerels, club cup and first went to Mr R. M. Wright; Mr, George Edgar, of Port Chalmers, taking second, and Dr Britain; third ; Mr Edgar getting highly commended! in this olass also. In pullets, Dr Brittin, firsfc and third ; Mr E. J. Ross, second. In silvers, Mr Wm. Goss, Christchurch, took first mi cocks,. hens, and pullets, and second in hens; Mr G. Wilson, second in cocks; Messrs Double Bros., second in cockerels and pullets. In white Wyandottes, first in cocks went to Mr J. Passmore, Timaru ; first in hens to Mr " Goss, Christchurch ; first cockerels belongs to Mr G. H. Blair ; second to Mr G. Mr M'Ewan. of Dunedin, has been appointed judge in the dog classes, at the H.B. Kennel and Poultry Club's approaching show.

A meeting, was held-at Milton on Tuesday evening. (says the Bruce Herald) to re-form the Bruce Ppultry Society. The balance eheefc showed .the. receipts for the past year to be £55 13s 6d,.ancl the expenditure £64 19s Bd. leaving- a balance of 13s lOcl. It- was^decided to hold the show on July 18.
