BUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.

A special meeting of' the D.J.C. Committeo was hold on the 20th, and attended by the Hon. G. M'Lean (in the chair), Messrs Thomson, Vigers, Solomon, Hazlett, Coughlan, and Mills.

The following dates were fixed for the ensuing season's meetings : — Spring meeting, October 10 and 13, 1900 ; Summer meeting, showweek, in November, 1900; Autumn meeting, February 27 and March 1 and 2, 1901 ; Winter meeting, May 24- and 25. It was resolved — " That the president and Messrs W. Oarncross and A. Cohen be asked to act as the club's delegates to the Racing Conference to be held at Weiling-ton on July 19, and that Messrs Solomon and Myers be appointed a- subcommittee to consider the proposed amendments to the rules and make recommendations to the delegates."

Tho question of a plantation at the course was referred to the Works Committee, with power to act.

Mr Sydney James wrote tendering his resignation &i secretary, intimating that the state of his health did not allow of his carrying out the duties as he would wish to have them carried out. — Resolved — " That the ro signation of Mr Sydney James be accepted with regret ; that the committee express its high appreciation of the valuable services rendered to the club and to racing g.enerally by Air James during the great number of years lie has occupied the position of secretary to the Dunedin Jockey Club," and a subcommittee was appointed to arrange that some suitable recognition be made to Mr James for his long services.
