The volunteers mustered at 1.30 p.m. at the Garrison Hall, and were thence matched to the starting point of the procession at the Octagon. As usual on such occasion, the residence at Mr James Robin, tbe father of Major Hobin, were frequently visited on Friday by crowds, who cheered for the gallant major, for those closely bound to him by the ties of relationship, and for " our boys " who are with him, or trying to get with him ad Pretoria. In response to repeated request* for a speech, Mr .Robin several times addressed the people from his window, and the substance of his address was a-s follows : — ilr Robin said: I feel that it is very good of you to come here in this kind way this morning, and I think it especially so, because I now pee so many who assembled to celebrate the relief of Ma f eking. Little did we then think t'rat in the &liorl space of fourteen days the capital of the Transvaal would be -in the posse-ision of Lord Roberts and tbe British force?.
