MELBOURNE, June 2.
The Premier has wired Sir J. Forrest, pointing out the inconvenience that will le caused to the other colonies if Westralia's proposal to delay taking*the federal referendum till August 7be carried out. He also cables to Mr Deakin urging him to suggest that the delay in taking the referendum in Westralia should not induce the Imperial Parliament to postpone passing the Commonwealth. Bill. SYDNEY, May 31. Sir Samuel Griffiths, in an interview, said that the so-called ' compromise over the Commonwealth Bill, instead of preserving or limiting the proposed restriction upon appeals, abolishes appeals in the most important of all cases in which they were preserved under the Draft Bill. PERTH, May 31. In the Legislative Assembly the Enabling Bill has been read a second time.
