A considerable number of exhibitors assembled at 2 p.m., when Mr A. C. Stronach presided, supported by Mr T. Brydone, Mr G. Robert*, Mr A. C. Begg, Mr Pattullo, and Mr E. F» Duthie.
Mr Stronach said ihet it was his pleasant laak to award tha special prizes to the succe33ful exhibitors. As the engraving of the inscriptions was not completed, the trophies were not then before him, but they would ba exhibited in the main hall and afterwards forwarded to the winners. The first was the farm competition. Sir J. B. Lawes's shield was won three times by Mr G. H. Gilroj-, of Stirling, who hgd generously replaced the shield with a pair of handsome bronze horses, these constituting the prize this year, along with the gold medal for iirst and the silver medal for second. Mr Brydone, v.ho was good enough to accept the posilon of judge, made his award by points, and the first prize went to a new competitor, Mr James Blair, of West Tai«ri, who gained tho maximum number of points under four important headings. The second prize- went to Mr James Hunter. Entries in the field turnip competition closed somewhat late, and" the judges had a most trying titre owing to the scattered localities they had to visit and the broken weather experienced. When their duties were completed the results would be made known through tho newspapers. The county exhibits liad been irost favourably commented upon by all visitors, and the more they wore looked at the better they seemed to be. The committee had under consideration o suggestion to award a money prize to each of the other competitors. The first prize in the factory butter competition went to the Wyndham Dairy Factory, and first in cheepe to the Seaward Downs Factory. Concerning the cheese trophies, he might mention that tho M 'Nairn cup had been in circulation for seven year*, but Mr J. M 'Nairn had generously intimated that if, in compliance with the conditions, it became the abfolute property of any competitor — that wps to say, after winning it three times, — he would leplacs the cup with another. The President concluded by congratulating all the wimierrf, and exhorting the losers to be of good courage. M" Milne and other competitors brieSy replied.
