Tli6 above teams met on the Asylum j ground, the game resulting in a win for the : Southern by 4 goals to 2. Mr W. Smith controlled the game in a satisfactory manner. j Ashton won the toss for the Southern (Reds), and Matthews, for the Roslyn (Blues), started "the ball rolling. The Reds' forwards immediately got' possesfcion, and carried the ball quickly down the field, a scramble ensuing in front of the Roslyn goal, from which Stubbs popped the ball between the posts. On the tail being kicked out the Southern again repeated, the performance, "Fleming this time doing the trick from a similar scramble, this making the second goal scored by the Southern in the first ten minutes. Roused by these reverses, the Roslyn commenced to attack the Southern goal very determinedly, the Brown brothers, Matthews, Robinson, and Dock! being very conspicuous in their efforts to score. The Southern backs, however, were playing a grand defensive game, Ashton, Nagle brothers, and Murray all putting in solid work. Nothing of note, however, happened until a little before half-time, -when one ' of the Southern backs, thinking the ball had been given out, picked it up, a penalty beingawarded to the Roslyn for this infringement. A. Dobson took the kick, and made no mistake, putting in a shot which Murray was unable to reach. From the kick off the ball went straight to the Roslyn goal, where, from another scramble, the Southern obtained their third goal, which was scored by Holland. Half-time was called shortly after, the Southera having a lead of two goals. On resuming play at once became faster. A change was made in the Roslyn team, A. Dobson coming up to centre half, and W.
