TRADES AND LABOUR. THE DISPUTE IN THE MILLING TRADE.

The conference between the representatives of the, employers and employees' in the milling trade held with tlie members of the Conciliation Board is understood to have ended in sn agreement being arrived at over the points in dispute. The agreement arrived at is to the following effect : — 1. Forty-six hours per week. 2. An alternate Saturday half-holiday, instead of weekly. 3. The claim in respect to overtime wholly conceded. 4. Tho recognised public holidays (New Year's Day, January 2, Good Friday, Easter Hondas*, the Sovereign's birthday, Labour Day, and Christinas Day) granted. 5. Tha number of apprentices not to exceed one in three (one in four was asked). 6. The preference of employment to unionists was agreed to, with, the exception that nonunionists now employed in a mill are not to be disturbed while they remain in their present employ. 7. The rate of wages at per hour, weekly, instead of a3 per scale, the rate being about equal to what the employees asked for.
